After tackling World War I's Western Front in Verdun, then taking us east in the follow-up, Tannenberg, the WWI first-person shooter franchise turns to the south. The action moves to Isonzo, promising bloody action across the towns, valleys and mountains of Italy. The weather and the scenery are beautiful, but the barbed wire is still sharp and the combat is still as brutal as ever. As with its predecessors, Isonzo is a tactical multiplayer FPS. It gives you plenty of choices around things like laying sandbags and wire, placing ammo crates, deploying sniper shields and trench periscopes and plenty more. This time out, the combat will be shaped by the terrain, with a lot of the action taking place in the thin air of the Alps. The WWI setting gives this series its own flavour, with over 30 authentic weapons, poison gas attacks and intense artillery barrages. A new addition to the series this time out is Offensive Mode, which lands players at the heart of real historical offensives, including vertiginous combat in the Alps and the hard-fought battles for the titular Isonzo river.
