You control a trebhum, a trunk-nosed little critter that has to stay alive in order to free, hatch and resuscitate other trebhum to grow its family. They will, in turn, follow you around trying to stay alive. Hoovering up resources will allow you to not only stay alive, but also to evolve. There's a huge array of mutations on offer, and the right one will allow you to solve the next challenge and, all being well, stay one step ahead of that giant cylinder so you can solve the world's mysteries. The real star of the show, though, is that world. A giant human-ish creature with a train-like object for a head stalks the landscape. Uncanny perpetual motion half-pipes litter the environment. Giant dragon worms hang from the sky. It's all so unique and idiosyncratic, and you won't find another game like The Eternal Cylinder.
