Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town doesn't reinvent the wheel (or the plough!) because it doesn't have to. The series was already pretty much perfect as a way to relax, unwind and get a bit of digital soil under your fingernails. What this entry to the series does do, however, is increase the scope of this gentle farming RPG. The game begins, as ever, with you starting out as an enterprising 20-something city slicker who has inherited your grandad's farm. You leave the hustle and bustle of the city for nature's simpler pleasures, only to find that your new farm has gone to seed and you have a LOT to do. So begins the familiar gameplay loop of clearing land, crafting ever more impressive tools, planting crops, harvesting said crops and mixing it up with townsfolk as you expand your farm. Finding Earth Sprites might whisk you away to magical places such as gardens with seasons that never change or sky islands, while the town offers more earthly pleasures such as dating and getting your hair done. Pioneers of Olive Town is bigger than ever, though, with loads of land for you to farm, deep gameplay options and over 200 unique town events to participate in.
