Red Dead Redemption on PS4 offers up the definitive release of RDR for the current generation of gamers. Not only does it include the original game, you also get the meaty Undead Nightmare DLC right out of the box along with all the other maps, missions and outfits not included in the original release. Once an outlaw, John Marston turns away from the life of crime after a heist goes wrong and he's left for dead by his fellow gang members. In the course of three years the man sorts his life out and gets a wife, son and farm to call his own. Marston is forced back into the gunslinging business when the Justice Department asks him to bring his former friends down. When he refuses, the government agents resort to holding his family hostage unless he does what they ask. This is the bit where the player jumps in, playing both sides of a war between the lawless and the lawful; with the latter appearing to be just as corrupt as the former. Red Dead Redemption offers a huge open world that changes dynamically depending on your actions. You can choose to either be a good-natured bounty hunter or a vicious outlaw escaping a bounty. Wherever you go, your reputation will precede you. A vast array of weapons and items can be picked up and used in play, and if you're having trouble with any of it you can simply engage the Dead Eye mode to pick off individual targets in a slow-motion manner. With certain weapons, you can even pick different body parts on the same enemy. Undead Nightmare is the first add-on pack that brings a whole new single-player campaign to the wild west. The new story takes place in-between the "home" period of Red Dead Redemption's main plot, and the end of the game itself. That's the time elapsed when John Marston rebuilds his ranch, which Rockstar imagines is a period that lasted several months. As Marston, your objective is to find a way to stop a deadly virus outbreak that is turning the West from Wild to Feral, while uncovering the mystery as to how it all started in the first place. There are several graveyards dotted around the world map that appear to be the source of the zombie invasion. If you want to progress through the Undead Nightmare episode with as little hassle as possible, you're going to need to seek out these graveyards and use the torch - a new weapon - to burn the cursed coffins that reside within them. This will give you some time to explore the land at your leisure while keeping the overall zombie population low.
