You stand naked and alone on a seashore. You're freezing, you're starving and your situation seems desperate. But beyond the shore on which you stand are hope and danger in equal measure. There's an unexplored land to be discovered and conquered. Are you up to the task? Oh, and the island you stand on is populated by dinosaurs. Someone should have mentioned that... These beasts from beyond time are at the heart of ARK: Survival Ascended, a reimagining of the iconic ARK: Survival Evolved. It's not apparent why this island, the game's namesake, is roamed by both dinosaurs and humans, but your chances of survival will hinge on your ability to hunt, tame and breed them. There are over 100 different species to be discovered. Some might be feathered, some might resemble the giant lizards we've seen in the likes of Jurassic Park. All are potentially deadly. To support your monster hunting, you'll need to use your cunning and skill to harvest resources, grow crops, craft items, research technologies and build shelters that will help you survive nature at its most savage. Even more importantly, you can team up with hundreds of other players to form tribes that will both help you survive and dominate other tribes also seeking to discover this mysterious island's secret. While the core game here is Survival Evolved, Studio Wildcard has gone deep to bring the game up to speed for the current generation, using Unreal Engine 5 to do a complete visual overhaul and introduce advanced new physics that will make every leaf and water drop respond to your movement.
