Fate/EXTELLA Link takes the formula of its predecessor, The Umbral Star, and smashes it into a room full of enemies. That's a roundabout way of saying that it takes the same fun, fast gameplay and builds on it. For those who missed The Umbral Star, it took the world of the Fate visual novels/manga/anime and created a game in the time-honoured Musou style (as pioneered by Omega Force with the Dynasty Warriors games) in it. That means, in a nutshell, that it involved fighting massive waves of enemies using a range of pyrotechnic combos and attacks. It's spectacle dialed up to the nth degree, designed to make you feel like a total boss while still being challenged by the endless hordes of foes throwing themselves at you. In Link the Holy War and its aftermath have ended, ushering a new age of peace into the virtual world of SE.RA.PH. It doesn't last, obviously. When a reborn Master and Servant Altera are attacked by Agressor programs they're dispatched by Servant Charlemagne, but there's no way it ends there. Altera disappears in the fray and suddenly a new foe, Servant Nero Claudius and her Master, are in the mix and the fate of the world hangs in the balance. The original roster of 16 servants returns with 10 newcomers including Astolfo, Scáthach and Francis Drake. In addition to the adrenaline-fueled single-player campaign, players can take the frenetic action online for 4v4 battles. Hold on to your eyeballs, this is going to be fast and furious.
