After a fair amount of wrangling over rights Outcast, the seminal 1999 sci-fi game that brought the very first open world to gamers, has been brought bang up to date for the 21st century with this console release. It's back in the hands of its creators Yves Grolet, Yann Robert and Franck Sauer, and with their team at Appeal they've been lovingly working on bringing the game to a whole new audience with Second Contact.

You take on the role of Cutter Slade (a man with a tough name if ever you heard one!), an elite soldier sent to the planet of Adelpha on a desperate mission to save no less than two universes. A probe has crashed, threatening to rend a hole in time and space, and if you don't stop it then life as we know it can be kissed goodbye!

It's all about exploration of this huge, rich world, with sacred portals that can take you to its four corners from the outset. Explore environments ranging from the desert plains of Motazaar to the snow-covered lands of Ranzaar. You'll need to gain the trust of the locals - rescue oppressed farmers, negotiate with rich traders, take on the native predators and even perform a mystic ritual with the great Shamaz priests of Adelpha in this world that blends science and magic.
