You know a game has its heart in the right place when it has taglines like 'variety is the spice of strife'. Evil Genius 2: World Domination is a 'spy-fi' lair-building game, following directly on from the 2004 cult classic it takes its name from. The formula is pretty straightforward - pick from a selection of evil geniuses (they each have their own perks, like motivating minions to work faster) and set about building your empire. A lot of that means getting your base built and diabolically kitted out. You'll need very practical things like generators, but you'll also want to make some more... idiosyncratic choices, like a room where your henchmen can train to break necks. As you go about this dastardly business, you'll be able to send the men out to do things like rob banks and undermine governments, bringing in the funds to further upgrade your base with things like traps or hire specialists to beef up your capabilities. This is all delivered with oodles of charm - island bases that look like they've come straight from Bond films, evil masterminds that could give the Incredibles a run for their money, Doomsday Devices that will literally bake Alaska. And a steady stream of side missions and new objectives will mean that you're constantly keeping the places spinning. It's up to you to keep the world on its toes - those evil deeds aren't going to commit themselves!
